Erin Cardinal has had the privilege of dancing her entire life. Her desire for making things, led her to creating dances for 16 years as cofounder and co-artistic director of Moving Current dance collective in Tampa, FL. As a founder, president and an artistic director of Moving Current dance, she has produced more than 50 evening performances, led artistic and educational residencies, created and conducted dance education programs, mentored emerging artists and received local and regional grant funding that helped to fortify the dance community in Tampa and throughout the state of Florida. The collective has produced artists such as David Dorfman, Jennifer Nugent and Modern American Dance Company and performed the works of many national and international artists, including, Paul Matteson, Noblemotion, George Staib, and Michael Foley. www.movingcurrent.com.  Erin was also a member of Chamber Dance Company (Seattle, WA) where she has had the pleasure of dancing the works of Nacho Duato, Doug Elkins, Shaprio & Smith and Dore Hoyer.

She now collaborates with her creative partner of 12 years, Brian Fidalgo II under the name base//flight. In Their work has been presented in the Tampa Bay area,  Houston, New York and Seattle and have taught master classes at festivals in Colorado and Florida for the American College Dance Association, University of Washington, Sam Houston State University and Fuzion Dance Artists.

After earning her MFA in dance at the University of Washington, Erin has served as a dance faculty member at Hillsborough Community College, Pinellas County Center for the Arts and as visiting instructor at the University of South Florida.  She has had the honor of presenting her research, “Building Sensitivity and Receptivity for Dance Partnering through Contact Improvisation” at the 2015 Graduate Research Symposium at UW and the National Dance Education Organization Conference in Washington DC.

Prior to her work at UW, she taught modern, ballet and choreography as a faculty member of Blake High School for the Arts in Tampa, as well as residencies and workshops for dancers and movers of all ages and abilities. She is a thankful recipient of numerous Florida county, state and regional grants and awards in support of her work as an artist and educator. Erin holds a BA with a concentration in dance from the University of South Florida and a Professional Teaching Certificate (K-12) from the State of Florida.
